parent programs

Our Parent Programs are specially geared towards parents who are wishing to learn about CPR and First Aid for their children. Participants of this class are typically either new parents, or those wishing to learn new skills to apply towards a family emergency. The course typically takes approximately 3.5 hours to complete. All participants will receive an American Heart Association Family and Friends textbook.

The following topics are covered in this class:

• CPR for a child

• CPR for an infant

• Relief of a foreign-body airway obstruction for a child

• Relief of a foreign-body airway obstruction for an infant

• Automatic External Defibrillator for a child

• First aid for a child and infant including bleeding control

• Signs of choking

• Prevention of sudden infant death syndrome

• Prevention of common fatal injuries in children and infants

This classes covers specific modules of the American Heart Association's Family and Friends Program. A formal test is not administered with this class, and therefore, an official American Heart Association course completion card is not issued. All participants will receive a Life Savers course completion certificate.

*Note: Adult CPR, AED, and First Aid can be added to this program, which adds approximately 1.5 hours to the program.
