EARLY EDUCATION AND CARE

It is the law in Massachusetts that all child care providers be certified in both CPR and First Aid for infants and children:

102 CMR 8.00: STANDARDS FOR THE LICENSURE OF FAMILY CHILD CARE AND LARGE FAMILY CHILD CARE HOMES (10-10-2003)

  • First Aid and CPR. The provider must ensure that a caregiver with current certification in First Aid and CPR is on the premises at all times whenever children are present except in the case of unforeseen emergencies.

  • The approved caregiver must renew CPR annually and remain current in first aid as required by the Office.

Our Early Child Care class is specifically designed for the child care provider. In this course, participants will receive two separate course completion cards: one in infant and child CPR, and the other in infant and child first aid. The course will also give attendees an opportunity to meet and network with other child care providers.

Both the American Heart Association and the American Safety and Health Institute curriculum course completion cards are acceptable to the Office of Early Education and Care.
